Priest and Deacon stole

What is the meaning of the priest stole?

The stole is the distinctive element of the priest, deacon and every other celebrant. It represents the Church and the responsibility borne by the presbyter in his mission to evangelize and preach the word of the Lord. There are two different stoles to distinguish priests from deacons: the priestly stole, worn with vertical stripes, and the diaconal stole, worn diagonally.

When does a priest wear a stole?

Being an identifying sign of the priesthood, the stole is used not only during Mass, under the chasuble, but also during concelebrations over the surplice, during confession or the blessing of families: that is, on all those occasions when the priest is actively carrying out his ministry. Given the many occasions we make stoles with different types of embroidery: hand-embroidered stoles in gold and bouillon embroidery for solemn celebrations, processions or priestly ordinations; stoles with hemstitch, equally elegant but simpler in style and more practical for carrying them along; and stoles with Richelieu stitch. As in all our products we like to take care of the detail, from the fringe, to the lining, to the entire tailoring.

Which fabric is best for liturgical stole?

The fabric that has prevailed since the beginning of the 12th century in the production of stoles is silk. Even today we still use brocades and silk damasks, as well as silk and satin blends for our stoles, especially those embroidered in gold.
The application of gold and silver chevrons make the stole even more precious. Fabrics are available in all liturgical colors: white or ivory, green, purple, and red. In addition, we make Marian stoles with light blue embroidery and in black (stoles for funeral rites). In addition to the silk stole, we have two other lines of stoles: stole with hemstitch embroidery, available in all liturgical colors and made with the same embroidery as the Vatican alb, and stoles where it is the fabric that makes the garment special. Among these ask us to view our stoles made with hand-loomed fabric, a proposal for those who like stoles with a simpler and more sober line but with attention to every detail.
