Roman chasuble
What is the history of the roman chasuble?
The Roman chasuble is a liturgical vestment that can be used by the priest during celebrations in place of the chasuble. In liturgical texts, roman chasuble is often used as a synonym for chasuble. Both, in fact, are derived from the same Roman wrap-around robe used by early priests.
Over the centuries, the original form of this robe has undergone many changes and has been greatly reduced: first it was shortened at the front and then lightened at the arms, until the falling fabric on them was completely eliminated. The resulting “guitar” shape is what is now identified as the roman chasuble.
Traditional hand embroidered roman chasuble
Following the ancient tradition of the church, we make roman chasubles with hand embroidery in gold thread and gold bouillon. Our designers reinterpret and experiment with the ancient motifs, coming up with designs that are always new and even customized to the customer’s request. Afterward, the designs are then transferred to the fabric and embroidered by hand. The hand embroidery makes the chasubles true works of art, considered by our clients as part of the baggage of tradition and history that they wish to bequeath to the Church of the next generation.
The best fabrics for your roman chasuble
The preciousness of our chasubles also comes from the fabric used, exclusively silk and silk satin, available in the liturgical colors: white, green, red, purple and liturgical pink. You can choose among many types of brocades, damasks, silks woven in the most important Italian silk factories.
If you do not want embroidery on the roman chasuble you can embellish it with the application of silver or gold chevron patterns. Our chasubles for priests are complete with stoles with the same design or embroidery. Upon request, it is possible to include maniple, burse, chalice veil, and chalice cover in the same fabric and motif.
